Following our most recent Basic Mediation Training (BMT) course, four students signed up as new volunteer mediators for our organization. All are Bend-area residents with a variety of backgrounds to include one nonprofit Board member, an IT business manager, a college professor, and college student. Welcome all!
The Community Solutions BMT course is structured in two parts. Part 1 is web-based with course content provided via a Trainee Portal on our website. Part 2 is a practicum with course content provided via instruction at the Becky Johnson Community Center (BJCC) in Redmond. This includes classroom instruction, group discussions, and role play settings. Part 1 commences on your enrollment date through Friday, March 24, 2017; Part 2 commences Friday - Sunday, March 31 - April 2, 2017 from 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM daily at BJCC. Community Solutions has entered into a new contract for services with the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department (OPRD). The contract stipulates facilitation services in support of the Upper Deschutes Advisory Group (UDAG) State Scenic Waterway rule review.

The Oregon Office of Community Dispute Resolution (OOCDR) hosted a meeting with Association members of the State Community Dispute Resolution Centers and leaders from the Association of Oregon Counties (AOC) at the University of Oregon (UO).
Deschutes County Justice Court Judge Fladeley hosted an annual luncheon for staff and volunteers from Community Solutions in Redmond, Oregon. The Board President, Cyndy Cook, Executive Director, Gary Winterstein, and several volunteer mediators attended.
